Put a drop of blue loctite on the 3rd needle and allow it to dry overnight BEFORE you install it. Remove the carb, barrel and then remove the hidden 3rd needle. The idle screw and the hidden third needle work together so when one moves it totally messes up the other.ĭino from TT came up with a simple loctite fix. Chased my idle mixture all over the place! I started a lenghty post on this in RunRyder. I did have an issue with the third needle moving on me recently. This is with the main at around 2 3/4 and the idle screw flush. 160F the back plate was warm but not so much that you couldnt leave your finger on it. Last week I was running a head temp of approx. 008 shim according to Dino Spadaccini the rep at Thunder tiger. If you run 30% you should be shimming the head with both the supplied. 004 head shim and am running 20%CP with no overheating issues whatso ever. 53 is designed for 15% nitro.so I put in the. I doubt I will ever need one, but the knowledge will be good to have. You can get this engine to work in the middle.but it's not what it was made for. I had a zimmerman on this engine a while back and with the added back pressure, the engine ran perfect thru the entire range, but was robbed of top end power, making 3D almost impossible. This engine makes mad power and is an awsome 3D performer. If you want apple juice, you gotta get an apple. I am sure the perry pump will do something, but it's like trying to get orange juice from an apple.
Redline marks a new range of products from Thunder Tiger focused on High Performance and Power! This new series of engines features high performance and extreme power surpassing the competition! High RPM, High Performance for 3D flying.
and it had me wondering if a pump like this would help a heli? they are only $30 so might help things.
I'm running my own mixed fuel of 20% nitro, 20% klotz and 60% methanol. The HIGH is tuned 2 1/4 turns (810⁰ or about 68 clicks). The LOW is tuned just a little bit to the rich side. Normally the bottom crankcase temperature is about 26⁰ C on my engine.Īre you fellows running the engine at temperatures around 100⁰ C on the flange? What temperature should I have on the bottom crankcase? Though I think the good power I got that day was because of the high oxygen in the air that cold day. And when I touched the bottom of the crankcase it was nicely warm. The engine sounds as if it is to lean, and I got the impression it is too hot, though it was about 100⁰ C on the flange.Īs for my engine, I think I'm running it quite rich, last time I was flying it was about -12⁰ C outside, and I got very good power from the engine. But after a while, or when reving up, the engine stops. Does anyone know what temperature the engine should have? I've noticed a friend of my trying to setup the engine so it has about 100-110⁰ C on the flange.
